Medical Engineering at Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa (UJD) is a 3-semester second-cycle engineering programme with a practical profile, taught in English and leading to the degree of Master of Engineering. It is addressed to holders of a Bachelor's degree in engineering who want to carry out research in medical engineering or provide engineering support to medical staff in health care institutions.
These are interdisciplinary studies built around the needs of the medical industry: advanced mechanics, simulation methods and artificial intelligence algorithms in diagnostics. You learn to formulate biomedical engineering problems and solve them through modelling, design, technology development and construction using computer techniques. The aim is to be able to design and manufacture personalised implants, prostheses and medical devices that cooperate with the human body.
Artificial Intelligence in Medical Diagnostics focuses on imaging diagnostics and digital tools for analysing a patient's health. You learn to apply artificial intelligence methods in medicine, develop IT tools for processing and analysing biomedical data, interpret real-time output from diagnostic apparatus and design decision-making models in medical diagnostics.
Biomechanics deals with the human musculoskeletal system and with solutions for orthopaedics, prosthetics and rehabilitation – designing prostheses and orthoses, using reverse engineering tools and programming complex biomechanical control systems.
The practical profile means a significant number of practical classes and workshops. Lecturers have practical experience gained in the medical engineering sector. You meet potential employers during classes, study visits and internships.
Part of your studies can take place abroad at partner universities within the Erasmus+ programme.
