Training Specialisations are a specialisation within the Sport programme (bachelor’s) at the Gdańsk University of Physical Education and Sport (AWFiS), a three-year, full-time course with a practical profile, taught in English. They suit athletes and sports enthusiasts who want to become qualified coaches in their own discipline.
Every bachelor’s student of Sport chooses one coaching specialisation. It is where you study the theory and practice of training in a selected sport in depth, follow current training trends and learn to programme, organise and run the training process. To this you add at least one further specialisation – an instructor one in another sport or one of the other options offered by AWFiS.
Coaching specialisations at bachelor’s level are offered in:
Classes are taught by practitioners – coaches with many years of experience at different levels of competition and a well-developed methodical approach – and their practical experience is supported by research. AWFiS has purpose-built laboratories for sport and exercise physiology, biomechanics, health and performance psychology and qualitative research, and training sessions use 13 gyms, 2 sports halls, 5 outdoor sports fields and a swimming pool on the campus in Gdańsk Oliwa.
Training Specialisations in brief
A trainer qualification is the natural starting point for work in sports clubs and organisations. Because the programme also covers the basics of entrepreneurship, management and marketing in sport, graduates can also look to sport-related businesses or to units responsible for sport within local government.
