⇑Why study Economics at Lazarski University in Warsaw?

Dlaczego warto studiować w Akademii Łazarskiego w Warszawie
Why study it:

Economics is a three-year, full-time bachelor's programme taught in English at Lazarski University in Warsaw. It is for you if you want to understand how the economy really works and enjoy working with data, whether you lean towards policy or towards mathematics.

Programme: theory, data and empirical research

The programme gives you a comprehensive grounding in economic principles, theories and their applications. You learn to analyse economic issues critically, apply theoretical frameworks to real-world problems, and prepare data analysis and empirical research. The core covers microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistics for economists, dynamic economic analysis, international economics and finance, and applied econometrics, with academic writing running through the first year. A blend of core and elective modules lets you tailor your studies to your interests and career goals.

Specialisation: policy or mathematical economics

You can specialise in one of two elective tracks, or take a comprehensive economics degree without specialising:

  • policy economics: negotiations and communication, history of economic thought, global economic issues, sanctions in banking and finance, and behavioural economics and risk attitudes
  • mathematical economics: finance and accounting, introduction to financial crime prevention, know your customer and due diligence, and machine learning for economists
  • both tracks also offer international trade and migration, and corporate growth and the financial markets
  • no specialisation: a broad economics degree built from the core and the electives you choose

Placements: internship in the final year

The final year includes an internship, and lecturers and the programme director support you in finding placements and planning professional development in line with your interests and life goals.

After graduation: analyst and specialist roles

Graduates are prepared both for further studies and for entering the workforce straight away, in areas such as finance, public policy, international development and academia. Typical roles include data analyst, policy analyst, market research analyst, compliance specialist, financial specialist and financial analyst.

Did you know? Teaching follows a process-based approach: with real data and business software you move step by step from acquiring data and reading it to analysing it and making decisions.

Economics
Economics () is the social science that studies the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services.
Economics
Economics is a subject that really relates to core aspects of human well-being, and there’s a methodology for thinking about these things. This was a very appealing combination to me. Market systems are capable of massive breakdowns that can result in long, devastating periods of high unemployment. And I felt that economists had really learned something about how to address that.
Janet Yellen, in "The Hand on the Lever" in The New Yorker (July 21, 2014) by Nicholas Lemann
Economics
In my youth it was said that what was too silly to be said may be sung. In modern economics it may be put into mathematics.
Ronald Coase, The firm, the market and the law (1988) Chapter 6. A remark on "The problem of social cost" (last sentence).
Economics
To have peace and not war, the drift toward a war economy, as facilitated by the moves and the demands of the sophisticated conservatives, must be stopped; to have peace without slump, the tactics and policies of the practical right must be overcome. The political and economic power of both must be broken. The power of these giants of main drift is both economically and politically anchored; both unions and an independent labor party are needed to struggle effective.
C. Wright Mills, The New Men of Power (1948).
