Tourism and Hospitality at the University of Gdańsk (UG) is a two-year (4-semester), full-time master's programme taught in English at the Faculty of Social Sciences. It is designed for future tourism professionals who want to manage destinations and develop tourism products in a sustainable way.
In the first year you gain interdisciplinary knowledge of tourism and hospitality – from infrastructure and business to management and product design – together with social and spatial research methods, including GIS. You explore the economic, social, environmental and spatial drivers of tourism as a human activity and as a branch of the local and global economy.
The second year focuses on the threats and challenges of tourism development, on creating tourism products and on skills needed in a modern professional career. Sustainability runs through the whole programme: you learn to design products that respect cultural heritage, protect the environment and respond to the needs of local communities.
From the second semester you work on your diploma project under academic supervision, which lets you specialise in an area that matches your interests and career goals. You can also choose elective courses from the University's offer.
