Why study it:

The Master's in International Business at the University of Gdańsk (UG) is a full-time, second-cycle programme taught in English at the Faculty of Economics, lasting 2 years (4 semesters). It is open to graduates of any field who want to add international business competences to their first degree and move towards more senior roles in global companies.

Programme: a global business perspective, including HR and economic diplomacy

The programme covers international trade, marketing, finance, logistics and transport, globalisation, business relations and human resources, with cultural differences in business treated as a core theme. Teaching combines lectures by academics and industry experts with case studies, group discussions and personalised thesis supervision.

One of the distinctive courses is International Economic Diplomacy, which draws on the work of organisations such as WTO, WIPO, UNCTAD and ITC.

Labs: advanced data analysis with LSEG Eikon, Statistica and SPSS

Practical training uses LSEG Eikon, Statistica and SPSS for advanced data analysis, and students have free access to Microsoft and IBM software such as Office 365, SQL Server and Visual Studio, as well as global databases and academic publications.

Languages: professional communication in foreign languages

All teaching is in English. On top of that, the programme develops advanced foreign language skills for professional communication, both spoken and written. Together with the focus on cultural differences, this prepares you to work in teams that are diverse in culture and language.

Examples include senior market or business analyst, trade finance and risk analysis specialist, sales or import and export manager, senior consultant and logistics manager. Some classes are run in collaboration with business practitioners and industry leaders.

⇑Definitions and quotes

Business
Business is the activity of making one's living or making money by producing or buying and selling goods or services. Simply put, it is "any activity or enterprise entered into for profit. It does not mean it is a company, a corporation, partnership, or have any such formal organization, but it can range from a street peddler to General Motors." The term is also often used colloquially (but not by lawyers or public officials) to refer to a company, but this article will not deal with that sense of the word.
International
International mostly means something (a company, language, or organization) involving more than a single country. The term international as a word means involvement of, interaction between or encompassing more than one nation, or generally beyond national boundaries. For example, international law, which is applied by more than one country and usually everywhere on Earth, and international language which is a language spoken by residents of more than one country.
International Business
International business consists of trades and transactions at a global level. These include the trade of goods, services, technology, capital and/or knowledge.
Business
I think any man in business would be foolish to fool around with his secretary. If it's somebody else's secretary, fine!
Attributed to Barry Goldwater in: Conference Board (1978) Across the board. Vol. 15. p. 74.
Business
The technical and commercial functions of a business are clearly defined, but the same cannot be said of the administrative function. Not many people are familiar with its constitution and powers; our senses cannot follow its workings - we do not see it build or forge, sell or buy - and yet we all know that, if it does not work properly, the undertaking is in danger of failure.
Henri Fayol (1900) Henri Fayol addressed his colleagues in the mineral industry 23 June 1900.
Business
Despatch is the soul of business.
Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl of Chesterfield (1694-1773). Letter, 5 February 1750.
