Why study it:

Global Studies at the University of Gdańsk (UG) is a full-time, second-cycle (Master's) programme taught in English at the Faculty of Social Sciences and lasting 2 years (4 semesters). It is meant for graduates who want to understand global processes and the challenges facing the modern world, and who are ready to analyse facts, draw conclusions and learn about other cultures.

Programme: an interdisciplinary view of global challenges

The curriculum is built from thematic blocks: Global Studies, Global Politics, Global Society and Culture, Global History and Sustainable Development, complemented by projects and workshops, an MA Seminar and elective lectures chosen from the wider university offer. This structure keeps the programme flexible, allowing cooperation between institutes and with the social environment and letting the content be updated as the world changes.

You examine issues such as environmental justice, economic, political, historical and cultural interdependence between nations, global governance bodies, security and conflict, migration, global social relations and communication in a globalised world – and learn to analyse them from multiple and cross-cultural points of view.

Languages: English and intercultural communication

The whole programme is taught in English and puts strong emphasis on critical thinking, problem-solving and the communication skills needed to work in a global, multicultural environment.

After graduation: diplomacy, business, NGOs and media

The aim is to prepare professionals for business, politics, diplomacy and paradiplomacy, the non-profit sector, social services, consulting and education. Graduates can work in:

  • state, diplomatic and local government institutions at various levels
  • business, especially global management, and international corporations
  • NGOs, including those working in education, support for migrants and sustainable development
  • media and publishing houses
  • cultural and art institutions

As of the 2026/27 admissions, based on the programme pages at rekrutacja.ug.edu.pl.
