Environmental Engineering at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW is a second-cycle programme taught in English, lasting 1.5 years (three semesters) and leading to the title of Master of Science in Engineering. It is meant for engineers who want to combine technical skills with knowledge of the natural environment and of human impact on it.
The programme joins engineering and technical knowledge with natural science and the study of anthropogenic processes. Early on you meet economics of environmental engineering, engineering of air pollution control, environmental monitoring, renewable energy resources, spatial planning, statistics, waterworks and sewage systems, and water reservoirs. Later you study environmental geotechnics, environmental management, river restoration, waste landfills, modelling of water supply and sewage systems, fire safety systems and flood risk assessment. The scope also reaches climate change, the use of water resources, irrigation systems and the processing of waste.
The programme is run with the Modern Engineering in Water Management specialisation, which gives you an open list of electives, from hydrological modelling to remote sensing and drone-based environmental applications.
After relevant professional practice, graduates may apply for licences to manage construction works. They may also apply for licences to design without restrictions in the installation specialty of heating, ventilation, gas, water supply and sewage networks, installations and structures, and in hydrotechnical engineering. In the building and construction specialisation the licence is limited in scope.
