Dentistry at the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin (PUM) is a five-year (10-semester) DMD programme taught in English by the Faculty of Dentistry. It is meant for those who want a practical dental education and plan to build their career in an international setting.
The first two years cover basic and preclinical disciplines together with an introduction to clinical sciences. The following three years focus on dental disciplines and clinical studies.
PUM uses outcome-based education: you work towards what you should know, what you can do in practice and how you act as a professional. This gives seven domains, from morphological sciences and the scientific basis of medicine, through behavioural sciences with elements of professionalism and clinical sciences in general medicine, to clinical sciences in dentistry and the legal and organisational basis of medicine.
The fifth year (semesters 9 and 10) is practical training in:
The whole programme is taught in English, which prepares you to work in an international environment, follow current developments in world dentistry and continue your education or work abroad more easily.
As a PUM student you can apply for Erasmus+ mobility. After completing the second year of a uniform master’s programme you can spend part of your studies at a partner university abroad. Erasmus+ also covers traineeships in academic and non-academic institutions abroad, both during studies and after graduation – you can use the university’s offer or find a placement yourself. Several stays are possible, up to 24 months in total in master’s studies.
Degree in brief
Graduates leave with a recognised diploma, clinical competences gained through intensive practical training and the language skills needed on the international job market. That combination opens professional development both in Poland and in other countries.
