1. Your school introduces a new online gradebook and lots of teachers are struggling with it. What do you do?

Help them set it up and turn the most common questions into a simple how-to guide. Show them how it works if someone asks. Stay out of it – that’s the school’s problem.

2. A relative runs a small shop and wants to start selling online. How could you help?

Ask what they actually need first, compare ready-made platforms and help launch the one we choose. Recommend the first platform I’ve heard of. Tell them it’s not really my thing.

3. After a phone update, one of your apps stops working. How do you react?

Check what changed, look for known issues and test possible fixes one by one. Restart the phone and wait for a fix. Delete the app and forget about it.

4. System documentation, training sessions and project meetings will be in English, and you’ll plan implementations in teams with people from many countries. How does that sound?

Great – English is the working language of IT, and different perspectives help you anticipate what different users need. I’ll manage, though the technical vocabulary will be a challenge. I’d rather work only in my own language.

5. How do you go about organising information, for example in a spreadsheet?

I like building clear tables, pulling together data from different sources and setting up filters that save time. I use spreadsheets when I have to – just the basics. I’d rather keep everything in my head or on scraps of paper.

6. Your class is organising a trip and you need to decide who does what. What role do you take?

Map out the tasks and deadlines and make sure everything fits together. Take on one task and get it done. Wait for someone to tell me what to do.

7. Your grandmother can’t get to grips with a new banking app. How do you explain it?

Patiently, step by step, in plain language – then check she can do it on her own. Just do it for her because it’s quicker. Tell her to pop into the bank instead.

8. How do you feel about testing – checking that something works before other people start using it?

It’s essential – I’d much rather find a bug myself than have a user stumble on it. I check the main things and leave it there. It’s a waste of time – any problems will show up sooner or later.

9. What do you picture yourself doing in the future?

Bridging technology and business needs – choosing, configuring and launching systems that other people rely on. Something with computers, but I haven’t got a clear idea. Something as far away from computers as possible.

10. What motivates you most to study IT Systems Implementation?

Seeing how a well-implemented system genuinely helps people – and a whole organisation – work better. Good job prospects in the IT sector. I’m not sure it’s for me
