Why study it:

Raw Materials Value Chain (RaVeN) at AGH University of Krakow is a four-semester, English-taught double degree Master's programme run with Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg (TUBAF), the Technical University of Košice and non-academic partners. It is for graduates of geology, mining engineering, mineral processing, environmental or mechanical engineering, metallurgy or similar fields who want to follow raw materials from sourcing to recycling.

Programme: the whole value chain, semester by semester

The programme is built around a sustainable, circular approach to raw materials:

  • semester 1 at AGH (Department of Civil Engineering and Resource Management) – earth sciences, geology and innovative mining
  • semester 2 at AGH (Faculty of Non-ferrous Metals) – mineral processing and innovation in metallurgy
  • semester 3 at TUBAF – materials production, recycling and circularity
  • semester 4 at AGH – the Master's thesis, prepared with an industrial partner or research centre
  • every semester – courses on economic, social and environmental issues

Placements: winter internships and industry contact

The programme includes winter industrial internships, and in the final semester the partner that supervises your thesis also hosts you for an internship. Teaching is run in close cooperation with SMEs and large corporations through guest lectures, study visits and non-academic training. A summer school adds further lectures and study visits.

Exchanges: a semester in Freiberg

You spend the third semester at TUBAF in Freiberg, while semesters one, two and four take place at AGH in Krakow.

Qualifications: two diplomas and the EIT Label

Degrees at a glance

  • AGHmagister inżynier
  • TUBAFMaster of Science
  • CertificateEIT Label certificate – the programme is accredited by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology and funded by EIT RawMaterials

After graduation: technical experts with an entrepreneurial edge

Graduates become technical experts in raw materials with a holistic view of the value chain – sourcing, processing, use, recycling and back to sourcing – and an awareness of sustainability. Their skills are sought in mining and processing, metallurgy, energy, the automotive industry and logistics.

Because the programme fosters creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship, it also prepares you to introduce new solutions at work or to start and run your own business.
