1. How would you like to approach building a system that recognises emotions in speech?

Combine knowledge of human perception with machine learning models and test them on real recordings. Use a ready-made tool and see what it outputs. It doesn’t interest me.

2. Which question sounds most fascinating to you?

How can models of human attention, memory and decision-making improve artificial intelligence? How do apps work in general? Neither – I prefer other topics.

3. You’re asked to design an experiment with eye-tracking or EEG to test how people use an interface. What’s your reaction?

Excited – I’d plan the procedure, collect the data and analyse it statistically. I’d help, but I’d prefer someone else to design it. I’d rather avoid working with participants and data.

4. How do you feel about programming in Python and working with neural networks?

I enjoy it and want to go deeper into training and evaluating models. I know the basics, but I find it hard. I don’t want to program.

5. A chatbot gives confident but wrong answers to users. How would you investigate?

I’d analyse failure cases, the training data and the model’s limits, and propose ways to measure and reduce errors. I’d report it and wait for an update. It’s not my problem.

6. The programme is taught in English, and you’ll work on interdisciplinary projects in an international group. How do you feel about that?

Great – AI and cognitive science research is published in English, and diverse teams bring better ideas. I can read the papers, but presenting in English is a challenge. I’d rather study in my own language, with people from my own country.

7. How do you feel about the ethical side of AI – bias, privacy and manipulation?

It matters to me – I want to design technology that respects people and can explain its decisions. It’s important, but I leave it to others. I don’t think about it.

8. Your team needs to connect psychologists, linguists and programmers on one project. Would you take the role of the link between them?

Yes – I like translating between disciplines and finding a common language. Maybe, if the roles were clear. No, I prefer to work alone on my own part.

9. Which future role sounds most like you?

AI researcher, designer of human–machine interaction or specialist in brain–computer interfaces. Something in tech, I’m not sure what. Something far from technology and research.

10. What motivates you most to pursue a Master’s degree in Cognitive technologies?

The chance to work where the study of the mind meets artificial intelligence and to build technology that understands people. Growing demand for AI specialists. I’m not sure it’s for me
