⇑Why study Dental Medicine at WUM?

Dlaczego warto studiować na WUM
Why study it:

Dental Medicine at the Medical University of Warsaw (WUM) is a 5-year programme taught in English at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. It suits you if you want to become a dentist and prefer to learn in an international environment, with theory closely tied to clinical training.

Programme: theory and clinical training under one roof

The curriculum is adapted to EU standards and offers more than 5000 hours of learning and 300 ECTS points. Integrating theoretical knowledge with clinical training is at the forefront of the programme. The dental and general medical units of the Faculty provide the comprehensive theoretical and practical education needed to treat diseases of the stomatognathic system, so you leave ready to enter the workforce and provide patients with integrated health care.

Labs: University Dental Centre on the Banacha Campus

You train with world-class equipment in the University Dental Centre at the Banacha Campus, a facility that WUM describes as the most modern of its kind in Poland.

Placements: early clinical experience in teaching hospitals

Early clinical experience in leading teaching hospitals is one of the features of studying in English at WUM. The training you receive is designed to be sufficient to run your own dental practice. Studying in Warsaw also means living in the capital, the largest city in Poland and its political, cultural and economic centre.

After graduation: ready to practise and to work internationally

By the end of the programme you are prepared to:

  • implement proper preventative and therapeutic procedures
  • perform pro-health activities for patients
  • run your own dental practice
  • hold a diploma recognised internationally

Did you know? Dental medicine has been taught at WUM for over 100 years, and the Welcome Center in the Rectorate Building helps English-language candidates start their studies.

Medicine
Medicine is the science and practice of the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Medicine encompasses a variety of health care practices evolved to maintain and restore health by the prevention and treatment of illness. Contemporary medicine applies biomedical sciences, biomedical research, genetics, and medical technology to diagnose, treat, and prevent injury and disease, typically through pharmaceuticals or surgery, but also through therapies as diverse as psychotherapy, external splints and traction, medical devices, biologics, and ionizing radiation, amongst others.
Medicine
'Tis time to give 'em physic, their diseases
Are grown so catching.
William Shakespeare, Henry VIII (c. 1613), Act I, scene 3, line 36.
Medicine
You behold in me
Only a travelling Physician;
One of the few who have a mission
To cure incurable diseases,
Or those that are called so.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Christus, The Golden Legend (1872), Part I.
Medicine
I do remember an apothecary,—
And hereabouts he dwells,—whom late I noted
In tatter'd weeds, with overwhelming brows,
Culling of simples; meagre were his looks,
Sharp misery had worn him to the bones:
And in his needy shop a tortoise hung,
An alligator stuff'd, and other skins
Of ill-shaped fishes; and about his shelves
A beggarly account of empty boxes,
Green earthen pots, bladders and musty seeds,
Remnants of packthread and old cakes of roses,
Were thinly scatter'd to make up a show.
William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet (1597), Act V, scene 1, line 37.
