1. You come up with an idea for an app or a product. What do you do?

Ask potential users whether they really have that problem, and put together a simple version to test. Write the idea down and wait for the right moment. Forget about it after a few days.

2. Have you ever tried selling something or earning money on your own?

Yes – I’ve sold crafts, second-hand clothes or my own services, and I really enjoyed it. Once or twice, now and then. No, and it doesn’t appeal to me.

3. Your project has flopped. How do you react?

Work out what I’ve learned and quickly try something new. Feel discouraged for a while, but get going again eventually. Decide that running a business isn’t for me.

4. Classes, workshops and project pitches will all be in English, and your team will include people from different countries. How does that sound?

Great – start-ups think about international markets from day one, and a team from different countries means more perspectives and contacts. Good, though pitching my idea to a panel in English makes me a bit nervous. I’d rather study in my first language.

5. How do you feel in uncertain situations, when nobody knows how things will turn out?

Fine – I see it as a challenge and take it one step at a time. A bit nervous, but I cope. Uncomfortable – I need a clear plan and certainty.

6. You have a few minutes to pitch your idea to an audience. How do you prepare?

Pick out the key problem and benefit, rehearse a short story and get ready for questions. Make some slides and hope it goes OK. I’d rather someone else presented it.

7. Who do you want on your team?

People with different skills from mine – technical or marketing, say – so we complement each other. Friends I get on well with. I’d rather work alone.

8. You read about a company that grew from a small project into a well-known brand. What interests you most?

What decisions the founders made, where they got their funding and how they won their first customers. How much they earn now. I don’t read stories like that.

9. Where do you see yourself after graduating?

Running my own start-up or in a young team building something new. At any company where the work is interesting. In a steady job where nothing ever changes.

10. What motivates you most to study Start-ups?

The chance to create my own projects and turn ideas into working businesses. Wanting to learn about business. I’m not sure it’s for me
