1. At university or work, you spot a problem that lots of people struggle with. What do you do?

Talk to the people it affects and test whether there’s a product or service to be built around it. Mention it to friends as an interesting idea. Assume someone else has already solved it.

2. Have you ever run a venture of your own – a small business, an online shop, freelance projects?

Yes, and although not everything worked out, I learnt a huge amount. Not yet, but I’ve got a few ideas. No, and I don’t really plan to.

3. The first version of your product gets a lukewarm reception from test customers. How do you respond?

Go through their feedback, change the product and test it again. Feel a bit discouraged, but try again with something similar. Drop the idea.

4. Classes, workshops and team projects will be in English, and your team will include people from different countries. How does that sound?

Great – it’s a chance to build a network and think about international markets from day one. Fine, though pitching ideas in English will be a challenge for me. I’d rather stick to my local market and my own language.

5. You’ve got three minutes to win over an investor. How do you prepare?

Rehearse a short, punchy pitch: the problem, the solution, the customers, how it makes money and what I need. Speak with enthusiasm and hope the idea sells itself. I’d rather someone else did it.

6. How do you feel about financial risk?

I accept it, but I run the numbers, test in small steps and have a plan B. I prefer to avoid it, though I sometimes take the plunge. I don’t take any risks at all.

7. Your team can’t agree on where to take the product next. What do you do?

Gather the arguments and data, steer the discussion to a decision and take responsibility for it. Wait for someone else to take the lead. Pull out of the project.

8. Where do you get your knowledge about business and innovation?

I read about business models, listen to interviews with founders and go to meet-ups for entrepreneurs. I occasionally come across something on social media. It’s not something I’m interested in.

9. Where do you see your career in a few years’ time?

Running my own company or developing new ventures inside a large organisation. A steady job, maybe with a side project. A job where I don’t have to make decisions.

10. What motivates you most to pursue a Master’s degree in Entrepreneur?

The drive to build my own business and gain the know-how that will give it the best chance of success. Curiosity about how companies work. I’m not sure it’s for me
