1. A spreadsheet of thousands of transactions has duplicates and missing values. What do you do?

Clean it systematically – remove duplicates, deal with missing data and note what I changed. Fix whatever I happen to notice. Use it as it is.

2. Would you like to learn SQL to pull data straight from a database?

Yes – it sounds like a really useful skill. If I have to. No, it doesn’t appeal to me.

3. A manager asks for a dashboard showing monthly income and costs. How do you feel?

Excited – I enjoy choosing charts that make trends obvious at a glance. I’d make one basic chart. I’d rather someone else did it.

4. The programme is taught in English, and you’ll work on data projects with students from many countries. How do you see that?

As a plus – data tools and tutorials are in English, and an international team makes the projects more interesting. Fine for reading, but harder for speaking. I’d rather study in my own language, with people from my own country.

5. You notice a sudden spike in expenses in one month. What’s your reaction?

I investigate – is it an error, a one-off payment or the start of a trend? I note it and move on. I ignore it.

6. How do you feel about maths, especially statistics and percentages?

I enjoy them – they help me make sense of real numbers. They’re OK. I avoid them when I can.

7. You prepare the same report every week by hand. What would you do?

Automate it with formulas, macros or a short script. Keep doing it manually. Complain about it.

8. You download a year of your own bank transactions. Would you analyse where your money goes?

Yes – I’d sort the spending into categories and chart it. I’d scroll through it quickly. No, I’d close the file.

9. Which future role sounds most like you?

Data analyst in a bank, fintech, insurance company or a company’s finance department. An office job working with numbers. Something without data at all.

10. What motivates you most to study Financial Data Analyst?

Combining finance with data skills and turning numbers into insights that help companies decide. Good demand for analysts on the job market. I’m not sure it’s for me
