Why study it:

Security and Crisis Management is one of two specialisations of the MA in Political Science at the University of Humanities and Economics in Lodz (AHE), a two-year Master's programme taught in English, full-time or part-time with e-learning support. It is meant for students who want to understand modern security threats and learn how to analyse and respond to crises.

Programme: political science in depth

The MA gives an in-depth grounding in political science theories, research methodologies and their practical applications. A large part of the classes takes the form of projects, exercises and workshops, alongside seminars, research projects and real-world case studies. You study the dynamics of political change and decision-making strategies, and the behaviour of actors in political processes. From the second semester onwards, the programme focuses on your chosen specialisation.

Specialisation: terrorism, cyber threats, geopolitics

In this specialisation you:

  • examine modern security challenges such as terrorism, cyber threats and geopolitical tensions
  • learn to analyse crises and respond to them
  • develop crisis management strategies and ways of building resilience to emerging threats
  • study security policies, international relations and conflict resolution

Languages: an international classroom

The programme is taught in English and brings together students from diverse backgrounds, so you build a global network of peers while you study.

After graduation: public administration, services, think tanks

Graduates of the MA in Political Science can pursue careers in governmental organisations, international institutions, non-profit organisations, think tanks and private companies operating internationally.

Among the career paths listed for political science at AHE are work in crisis management teams and centres within public administration, in services under the Ministry of the Interior such as the Police, Border Guard and Prison Service, and in organisations dealing with security, including municipal guards and agencies protecting people and property.

As of the 2026/27 admissions, based on the programme pages at ahe.lodz.pl.

The term "management" may also refer to those people who manage an organization.

Management
You manage things, you lead people. We went overboard on management and forgot about leadership. It might help if we ran the MBAs out of Washington.
Grace Hopper (1987), quoted in "The Wit and Wisdom of Grace Hopper" by Philip Schieber, OCLC Newsletter, No. 167 (March/April 1987)
Security
To bargain freedom for security is the devil's bargain. Having made the bargain, one enjoys neither freedom nor security.
