Why study it:

International Trade and Business on the European Market is a specialisation of the Bachelor in Political Science at the University of Humanities and Economics in Lodz (AHE), taught in English. It suits students who are interested in politics and international relations but want to apply them to trade, companies and the European market.

Programme: a political science base

The degree gives you a broad understanding of political systems, international relations and policy-making processes. Coursework is combined with discussions and research projects that train critical thinking and analysis of contemporary political issues. The second English-taught track on the same degree, e-Politics and Public Relations in the Public Sphere, focuses on digital politics and PR – this specialisation turns instead towards business and the economy.

Specialisation: trade, integration and cross-border business

In the specialisation you study, among other things:

  • international trade policies, trade agreements and regional integration
  • global business strategies and the economic dynamics of the European market
  • cross-border business operations and working with domestic and foreign partners
  • the basics of commercial law in the European Union
  • analytical and negotiation skills, practised in projects run within the specialisation courses

After graduation: companies, consulting, administration

Graduates can work in small and medium-sized companies that deal with foreign partners and want to expand, in corporations with branches in different EU countries, and in consulting firms that research foreign markets and prepare analyses and forecasts.

Another path is public administration at local, regional and central level, in units that carry out projects in partnership, as well as international organisations and advocacy groups.

⇑Definitions and quotes

Business
Business is the activity of making one's living or making money by producing or buying and selling goods or services. Simply put, it is "any activity or enterprise entered into for profit. It does not mean it is a company, a corporation, partnership, or have any such formal organization, but it can range from a street peddler to General Motors." The term is also often used colloquially (but not by lawyers or public officials) to refer to a company, but this article will not deal with that sense of the word.
International
International mostly means something (a company, language, or organization) involving more than a single country. The term international as a word means involvement of, interaction between or encompassing more than one nation, or generally beyond national boundaries. For example, international law, which is applied by more than one country and usually everywhere on Earth, and international language which is a language spoken by residents of more than one country.
International Trade
International trade is the exchange of capital, goods, and services across international borders or territories. In most countries, such trade represents a significant share of gross domestic product (GDP). While international trade has existed throughout history (for example Uttarapatha, Silk Road, Amber Road, scramble for Africa, Atlantic slave trade, salt roads), its economic, social, and political importance has been on the rise in recent centuries.
Market
Market (economics)
Trade
Trade involves the transfer of goods or services from one person or entity to another, often in exchange for money. A system or network that allows trade is called a market.

And honour sinks where commerce long prevails.
