The Bachelor's Degree in Graphics at the University of Humanities and Economics in Lodz (AHE) is a full-time, six-semester programme taught in English, with one specialisation – 3D Graphics and Game Art. It is meant for secondary-school graduates drawn to visual communication, 3D and games, and you do not need prior experience with graphics software – the tools are taught from the basics.
Across the programme you learn, among other things:
The English-taught track is built around computer-generated imagery for games and visual media. You work on characters, game environments and visual effects, developing skills in modelling, texturing, lighting and animation. The same specialisation is also offered in English at Master's level, so you can continue it after the BA.
Classes run in dedicated studios, including 3D graphics and animation, game design, interactive and multimedia graphics design, a 3D computer workshop, photography, typography, illustration, and drawing and painting.
The programme includes work placements and projects carried out in cooperation with companies and design studios, which help you build a portfolio and professional contacts. Students also show their work in individual and group exhibitions at the gallery run at AHE, and take part in international exhibitions and competitions in Poland and abroad.
Graphics students go abroad each year to study at European universities under the Erasmus programme.
Graduates work as graphic designers in advertising agencies and creative studios, in the games industry as 2D artists, 3D artists or environment artists, in animation and special-effects production, as web designers, and in publishing, digital media and cultural institutions.
You can also go on to second-cycle or postgraduate studies, or build a freelance career.
