Cultural anthropology in education - University of Lower SilesiaSecond degree (graduate) studies in Education enrich
students’ reflective and critical thinking concerning both theory and
educational practice. Students broaden their knowledge and skills in the
area of research on contemporary educational problems, get familiar
with its possibilities and limits, became acquainted with the rules of
educational theories creating and learn how to take advantages from the
knowledge of theories and how to make use of them in their own
professional practice.
This advanced – second degree program of
higher education lasts two years (4 semesters). The program is taught in
the English language and welcomes both Polish and international
students. Its prestigious faculty comes from the University of Lower
Silesia, from selected Polish universities and other European and North
American institutions of higher learning. After program completion
graduate obtains magister degree which is an equivalent for Master
degree.

Cultural anthropology
Apart form the above listed courses program includes module of specialized courses concentrated around the issues of Cultural Anthropology in Education. The program builds on the understanding of anthropology as a critical and participatory study of cultures and societies. By providing a strong anthropological training in social and cultural theory and ethnographic methods, the program gives the students the necessary tools to the understanding of the socio-cultural foundations of learning and by extension creates the space for novel approaches to teaching as a culturally-grounded endeavor. The program will help students develop culturally sensitive understanding of social reality and prepare them for work in a variety of intercultural settings.

Career
The program, which includes a strong practical component, will help students become animators and organizers of learning processes in intercultural settings. Students will be well prepared for work both in educational and cultural institutions and they will also be exceptionally well motivated to assume work in non-governmental and international organizations in Poland and abroad. After completion of this second degree higher education program, graduates are entitled to pursue doctoral degree.
